Next week is August?????

Summer flies by each year for sure. I cannot believe that next week is August and that means (GULP) BACK TO WORK! I am enjoying this summer so much. Here are a few pics of what we are up to!
We go to the pool when we can. I have got to say that the weather has not been the best this summer. Lots of cloudy weather or extreme heat.

The Fourth of July wasn't terribly eventful. Paul worked and so when he came home, got got dinner and came home to do sparklers! Our neighbor, C, came over. He and Miss M were sparkler virgins and thought that they were the coolest thing ever! When the sparklers were gone, they laid on a towel and looked for stars.....very cute!

 Look!! There's the Big Dipper!
On July 11, we went to 7-11 for a free Slurpee. J doesn't like them (I KNOW! STRANGE) so I made him get my second favorite flavor so I could have two!
J is so into legos. I mean, they are all over our house. and what I love is that he makes his own things. He has some kits, but those are all torn apart and in the Lego box. He makes everything! He has always had a great imagination and liked to build and create and this summer is no exception. This was a Serpent Fight he created at the Library's Lego Club.
What summer would be complete without a visit to the Ice Cream Farm? This dairy Farm has a store where they make and sell homemade ice cream, soups and such. everything is SO.Good.
and then the (bum-bu-buuuuuum) Stomach Bug his my baby girl. Long story short, it started on a Wednesday night, called the doc on Friday after way more vomiting than I can handle. He told me to keep pushing fluids. I did. Religiously. By Saturday afternoon, she was still sick, holding down nothing, so we took her to the ER. What a trooper! She got an IV for fluids and by Sunday, she was as good as new! Amazing! She is back to her feisty, spunky self.

Next week we are headed for a small trip to an amusement park, a first for Miss M and a second time for J. They are beyond excited! Then its VBS at church. I am in charge of crafts this year! Lord help me!!!!!!
More to come!

Summer So Far 2013

Happy Summer!

Our household has had fun this summer so far.
We celebrated Father's Day. Nothing fancy, just a nice dinner out (That I didn't have to cook!!)
I love this picture. SO. Much. My favorites!

Miss M. Well, she is quite the spunky one. She is the most lovable little girl. Sometimes, I think she would crawl back inside me if she could...she is ALWAYS touching me, hugging me, kissing me. I love it. Most of the time! She is quite sassy and is in a stage where when cries when she is frustrated, angry, or doesn't get her way. She loves to spend time with her mom-mom. I don't usually make her take a nap, but often, she gives herself one anyhow. :) She loves the pool, loves to play with (aggravate) her brother! We have had fun this summer, swimming, reading, having dance parties, having play dates with her friend.

J became a Webelo this June. he finished 3rd grade with a fabulous report card. He has had fun swimming, playing outside, riding his bike and spending time with me at the Y. He would rather swim laps, walk the treadmill, or play basketball in the gym, then go to the daycare. Fine by me! He has written some comic book stories this summer. This boy is a writer! I hope he keeps up with it! He is already 6 books into his summer reading challenge.

J also has challenged himself with this rockwall at the Y. He is afraid of heights but is determined to get a little further each time.
My goal is to keep them busy this summer. One day, we went on a Park Quest with friends. We spent the day at a State Park, hiking through the woods, having a picnic and swimming in the bay. Super fun for all of us!

We hope to do some sort of mini vaca this summer. Maybe an amusement park or a mini trip to the beach. We are trying to save up for a bigger trip in the future!

Hope you all are having a great summer!

Catch Up

It has been two months of ups and downs. But through it all God has blessed us in so many ways--- friends and family who helped financially, with gifts of food, the TONS of prayers that I know helped keep me strong, and in the end a new job for Paul. I hesitated to talk about his new job---but he had been there three full weeks and so far so good.  Spiritually, we have been blessed with a stronger faith and more trust in God's plan. Thanks for your prayers.
The kids are great! Miss M signed up for Pre-K yesterday and is a month away from finishing Preschool. She had the BEST experience and (we) Loved her teacher! She was a blessing!
J is finishing third grade. It has been a challenging year for him. It took a few months to get used to the rigor of third grade! But he is doing well! He continues to WOW us with his creativity and writing ability!
This week has been tough emotionally hasn't it? The Boston bombing really got to me. As Miss M and I walked through the zoo this past week with her class, I watched everyone I saw that was alone---second guessing their reason for being at the zoo. Were they a threat? Why were they there? Where were their kids? I don't like feeling this way.I did the same at school this week. Who pulled up in front of the school? Do I recognize them? It is a terrible feeling.  I pray for peace right now---for me, for anyone feeling the same way, for Boston, for the Americans who are feeling unsettled, for our leaders and for the world.

Struggle

My family is struggling right now. My husband suddenly lost his job about two weeks ago. He has applied so many places. Please pray for us for several things: Patience in God's plan, financially that we can handle living on one income, wisdom, and strength. We have not told our kids, since this is an adult problem but they are bound to feel its effects. So PRAY! We need them all. Most days, my heart is so heavy that I break into tears. Thank you friends!

PS- The good news is that our health insurance is through my job! That is a true blessing!
