ONE MORE

day of Summer School! YAY! Actually, besides patrolling 12 kids tomorrow, I am done teaching for a few weeks. As I said earlier, we are taking about 90 kids to the Raven's stadium tomorrow. Now, I am HARDLY a football fan but I feel a bit o' Baltimore pride when I go to Camden Yards to watch the O's so I am hoping that I feel the same at the Raven's stadium. The kids are so excited. Most of these kids come from difficult homes, whether drug addict parents, non-English speaking parents, or single parents who can hardly afford to feed their families. So for these kids, this is a heck of an opportunity! So for all of you hard-core Raven fans, I will try to post some pictures tomorrow!

Happy last day!

Weekend update......

We had a pretty uneventlful weekend. Paul took J to a work cookout at Fort McHenry on Saturday which gave me a chance to food shop alone, which you moms know, is a treat! They had fun playing with other kids there. I would have been much more productive with my 5 hours of freedom but alas, I got a headache. So I took some Tylenol, put an ice pack on my head and laid down to watch some tv. Sunday was uneventful as well. I planted a few flowers to fill in the holes in the garden. Planting was cut short by a thunderstorm. I took a trip to Target and bought some (cough-cough) school supplies. Gotta get those glue stick when they are 20 cents a pack! :)
I also bought a new preggo swimsuit, which I am taking back. I got home, tried it on and let me just say that "they" (being the people who make clothing for preggers) must think that we like showing off our chest. The darn suit was so low cut that it made me blush! Needless to say, I cannot wear it and feel comfortable. I have also found that alot of cute pregger shirts are super low-cut and I have to pin them so I don't fall out of them! Oh well!
Summer school is in its last week and then I have a few weeks off before school begins. Friday the entire school is going to M&T Bank stadium, home of the Baltimore Ravens for a tour. We will get to go on the field, see the locker rooms, etc. Should be fun considering I have never been there. The kids are super excited. I am not a huge football fan but I do support my home teams. Too bad I don't have a cool Ravens maternity shirt to wear. :) I will try to get some pictures for any Raven fans out there.
Anyhow, I am super excited to be almost done but dreading going back to my "real job" because of the heat. Oh well. Maybe we there will a cold spell in good ol' B-more at the end of August, eh? Hey- a girl can dream right?

Arg!

I was driving home from school yesterday and the battery light came on in my car. Great, right? So I drove home, and went out to start my car later to head to a friend's house. It started fine and I got to her house, although the car seemed funny. So I left her house a few hours later and the car started and on the way home, the lights dimmed and the car seemed less powerful. I turned off the radio, A/C and rolled down the windows (it was like 90 degrees out for God's sake) so I am praying that I make it home and ANOTHER light comes on----the service light! FABULOUS! So LOOONNNNGGGG story short, Paul managed to get my car to the shop this morning and not only is the battery toast, but so it the alternator. We spent almost $700 to fix my car. Just what we needed. Not only is it alot of cash, but we had to juggle getting me and Paul to work. So I have to pick up the car soon. Please pray that all is well for a while!

Headaches

This is my second pregnancy and so far, I have had similar in symptoms. The new symptom for me is these gosh-darn headaches. Last month, I told the doctor and he was kinda blah about it, saying to take Tylenol or use ice but this is getting rediculous. I get them at least 3-4 days a week, they differ in their severity. I did have an appointment Friday but it got moved to 2 weeks from today so I waswondering if anyone is bloggyland got pregnancy headaches and if so, what did you do to rid yourself of them? Tylenol does little for me. Ice is only temporary. Any suggestions? If you didn't have headaches and know someone who did, please ask them. I am getting weary. It could be the God-awful heat that is causing them. COuld be something I am eating however, ther really hasn't been a pattern. Could it be the vitamins? THe doctor didn't think so. I don't know. So if anyone has any ideas/suggestions, let me know!

Story time with J!

We went outside today and J decided to draw a chalk version of the book, Harold and the Purple Crayon by Crockett Johnson. The audio isn't great because he ran fast ahead of me but just turn up the volume. It is really cute.

The Pit

Yesterday J had a birthday party at a gymnastics place. He had a ball. First they went to the little gym where they had the low bean, the rope swing, trampoline, and lots of other climbing activities. Then they went to the big gym. The parents seemed to have more fun than the kids. First of all, the floor was a spring floor so every parent is bouncing up and down on this floor. It was quite comical. Then the kids got to swing from a trapeze bar into this 9 foot-deep pit filled with red and blue foam squares. It was hysterical. Well then Paul and another dad really wanted to try, so after the kids went down for cake and ice cream, they did it.

Here is the video. It was hysterical. Paul and another man did it and it took a while for them to get out of the pit. Remember, it is 9 ft. deep! I kept saying to him, "Can you get out?". All I could picture was all of the dads having to fish him out of the pit. He wanted to do it again but I think getting out of the pit was more tedious than expected.

The Fabric Softener Incident

So we went to Target yesterday and bought various items we needed including a brand new bottle of fabric softener. When we got home, I put the bag containing the fabric softener on the washer and shut the door. Apparently, the bag was leaning against the door and when Paul opened the door, the bag fell in between the washer and dryer, the lid cracked and the WHOLE DARN bottle emptied onto the floor. Our laundry room is actually a laundry closet, the slider doors open to the washer and dryer and a space in between them just big enough to hold a BOTTLE OF FABRIC SOFTNER!!!!! So, we had blue fabric softener all over the floor, UNDER the washer AND dryer and behind both machines!!! So long story short, we had to get the mop and bucket, paper towels, rags, etc..... pull out both machines(not easy) and clean it up. Not fun!!! The good news is the the floor in the laundry closet is sparkling clean and it inspired me to clean like a mad woman today, which I did. And now I haave an excuse to go back to Target to buy more and look around! Of course, after I slaved over cleaning the kitchen floor, J was painting with water colors and spilled the water all over my clean floor. ARg!
