Dad's visit

My dad came to visit this past week. We didn't do any terribly spectacular, but had some fun none-the-less.
He was so happy to see Miss M. He hadn't seen her since she was 3 weeks old and to say that she had grown, is an understatement! He and J had their usual tickle battles and pillow fights.
Sunday, we went to a park in a near-by town that is on the water. Such a pretty place!

Yesterday Paul, J, dad and I took the Water taxi around the harbor and visited Fort McHenry. Dad worked there for a time but Paul had never been inside the fort so it was a learning experience! I think J likes the cannons the best! After we toured the fort and the grounds, we took the water taxi to another area of the harbor and ate lunch. By that time, we were all pretty spent, and headed home.

Oh NO! Daddy's in jail! Wonder what he did?
I love the flag at Fort McHenry. There is a film in the visitor's center. The one side of the theater is a curtain that hides a glass window. At the end of the film, the curtain opens and you see the flag as a choir sings that National Anthem. Makes me get chills every time!

J was so tired and hungry, but as we waited for the water taxi, Paul got this picture which I thought was cute!

Playing in th Rain

It finally rained this morning. I have had the worst headache-which happens whenever the air pressure changes. Anyhow, I heard the rain pouring down and asked J if he'd like to go out and play in the rain. He at first thought I was kidding, but I was serious. He was still in his jammies but I let him go out for a few minutes....what the heck!

One, happy, wet and soggy boy!

Bad mom moment

As I said in an earlier post, we went to the pool today. After the kids swam for hours, they got their shoes on and headed to the playground. The three of us, kept an eye on them but the kids weren't in our direct view, as the playground was a bit to the side of us. I however, glanced over every few minutes and the kids were playing, having a grand time. So I look over and see J walking towards me, looking sad. I figured he got his feelings hurt by D or A and was coming to tattle. As he got closer, I saw he was holding his eye. He then exclaimed, "I fell!" Blood was coming out of his mouth, his nose was scraped and he had a cut on his eye. He was hardly crying but I knew he was hurt. We got ice on his eye and I cleaned him up. His lip is busted and he is pretty scraped up. Plus, I obviously didn't sun screen his face as well as I should because he has red blotches all over his face. ( Did I mention that he hates to get sunscreen on his face and it is a fight, even when I use the stick kind?)
This is horrifying! I am almost ashamed to put this picture up, but I know you all can sympathize with me, right?
If you look at his eye, you can see a small cut that is already scabbing over, but the fall must have somehow pulled outhis eyelashes. You can see the center group has some missing......ug...makes me feel like a heel!
So I asked him how he fell and he said, "Well, mommy, I sort of jumped."Jumped???? What the heck???? So he told me that he was climbing DOWN the steps from the slide and decided to jump for it. yup. My daredevil kid. Gonna give me a heart attck one day!

Pool fun

Today I went to a coworker's pool with her and another friend. The day didn't look to promising since the forecast called for rain. It turned out to be good! Not too hot, not too sunny. The rain held off and the day actually got a bit sunny!

J has never been really afraid of water but always wears his swimmies. This pool doesn't allow swimmies so he was stuck in the 3 ft. water with his friends, D and A. They were jumping off the side and J was a little skeptical but eventually jumped right in!
Here he is, hesitating......

Brave little boy!

Yay! He did it!
